Straight from the phone
Photos copied off an iPhone arrive as HEIC, which many websites and older programs refuse. Drop the folder and every one comes back as a JPEG under the same name, in the same folders.
Questions about hEIC to JPG
Is it slow?
HEIC is decoded one file at a time on the page's own thread, so a large folder takes a while; JPEG output is written in parallel once it is decoded. Leave the tab in front.
Are folders kept?
Yes. The archive starts on Mirror the source folders, so trip/day-1/IMG_0001.HEIC becomes trip/day-1/IMG_0001.jpg.
Are Live Photos or bursts handled?
The still picture is converted. The video part of a Live Photo is a separate file and is not touched.
Does the photo go anywhere?
No. The HEIC decoder runs on this page, on your device.
