A clean JPEG
Print shops send CMYK JPEGs, phones send sideways ones with GPS in them, and design tools send PNGs with holes. Each becomes an upright sRGB JPEG with nothing but pixels in it, and the plan says which needed converting.
Questions about resize JPG
Is location data kept?
No. The picture is re-encoded from its pixels, so location, camera and date are not copied into the output.
My phone photo came out sideways elsewhere. Here?
The orientation in the photo's header is applied to the pixels, and the output is written upright with no rotation flag left to misread.
What happens to a PNG with transparency?
JPEG has no transparency, so transparent parts become white, or the colour you choose under Transparent parts become.
Can I make it progressive?
Browsers do not expose progressive JPEG encoding, so it is not offered and not claimed.
